This time was difficult for me to reconcile with the good life I have had and the plans we had made going forward. And it was hard to watch the lives of our children and grandchildren lose their structure. We formed a pod in late March, so we were able to be helpful to one another. We got to spend lots of time with our grandchildren while their parents worked from home. We were at the cape a lot also and enjoyed watching our granddaughter learn to sail and to quilt. It was a transformative summer for both. For us it was both delightful and exhausting. By August, I felt just trapped in a life where I had little say over events. But recently the seasons have changed. School has finally started, and we have regained some time for ourselves.
The events at TBE have been life enhancing also. We have studied Talmud, continuing all summer. And we began to attend Saturday morning Torah study also. Easy when you don’t have to go anywhere. Lower expectations have helped me adjust to this time, even though I still struggle. Glad it is Rosh Hashanah.
