The question of what brings me joy always has the same answer: My children and grandchildren. Even from six feet away and with masks on, my grandchildren truly compose the flowers that form the crown on my head, even if there is an occasional thorn!
The challenges keep changing. I am not sure I have truly recovered from losing 23 patients in April while learning how to support families through telehealth. I now have a better understanding of what full retirement looks like – and I like it! It seems harder to go out again, to move towards a new “abnormal” than it did at first to quarantine. I may never have to go to a supermarket again! Travel outside of the US now seems as foreign as going to the moon. And the list goes on.
