When I reflect on my own story of the past few months, I have learned that I am more of an introvert and actually find rest and comfort being home. I restore myself when I am home. Alone time gives me more energy to go out into the world. In addition, spending every day with my husband has been so relaxing and comforting. We have always been the best of friends. Spending every waking and sleeping hour with one’s best friend is heavenly.
The COVID experience created more opportunity to take long walks with the dog. I went bike riding almost every day, sometimes 30-40 miles of meditation. I have learned that I benefit from my own time.
I especially like that there have been no fundraising events with long cocktail hours. I have always found them to be tedious. I have learned that I prefer to engage in deeper connection with friends. I reconnected with a childhood friend and we have spoken every week, several times a week, for upwards of over an hour each phone call.
Finally, I enrolled in numerous zoom religious study classes: Talmud, Kabbalah, and misc text study. I was reminded how replenishing this study is for me. Every session is applicable to my every day life. The takeaways become the wind beneath my wings.
