What is a Kumsitz? A kumzitz is a social gathering with music and stories. The word kumzitz is actually a compound of two Yiddish words: kum and zitz which, when spoken together, mean “come, sit down.” The word is used to describe a musical gathering that Jews partake in. Everyone sits together, be it on the floor or on chairs, and sings spiritually moving songs.
