Join our TBE community in a discussion of the Boston Jewish Film Festival film Farewell Mr. Haffmann led by Rabbi Joel Sisenwine.
Farewell Mr. Haffmann: Paris, 1941. Joseph Haffmann, a Jewish jeweler, helps his family flee the city, with plans to immediately follow them. In haste, Joseph offers his employee François the deed to his store and apartment above it, with the promise that ownership will revert to him once the war ends. When Haffmann can’t escape, he seeks protection from his former employee and his wife Blanche. Tensions rise as the three live in fear of being discovered by the Nazi occupiers. This gripping, morally complex thriller about greed, survival, and courage is replete with Faustian bargains and surprisingly dramatic plot turns.
This film will be available to view in person on Sunday, November 6 and screening virtually from November 10-November 13. Please plan to view the film in advance of the discussion on Sunday, November 13! If you are planning to view the film in person at the MFA, and you would like to join a TBE lunch in the cafeteria afterward, please RSVP to Lynn Burke.
Click here to view the trailer and purchase tickets ($16 each) through the MFA. While there is not a group rate available for the in-person viewing at the MFA, there is a TBE group discount code for the virtual tickets: 22SISTER.
