Jonah & Spike: How is TBE kicking-off Chanukah this year?

Hannah: We’ll celebrate with a morning of festivities and TBE’s first annual Dreidel Dash 5K on Sunday, December 2!

J&S: Why a Dreidel Dash 5K?

H: I believe this will be a way to build community at TBE. There is something sacred about lining up together for a race, and it will be magical to run through the finish line with our TBE building in sight. I shared this vision with congregants, and quickly an intergenerational race-committee formed. The dream is becoming reality!

J&S: Where will the money raised from the race go?

H: All proceeds will go to the TBE Youth Engagement Fund, which provides scholarships for immersive Jewish experiences, including overnight camps and summer programs, Israel trips, and more. Through the fund, hundreds of youth in our community have been able to participate in life-changing programming.

J&S: What if I’m not a runner? Can I still participate?

H: 100%! The race will be open to runners and walkers, and all abilities are welcome to participate. In addition, the race will need volunteers and cheer-ers. Concurrent to the race, we will have a community-wide celebration happening all morning in place of our regular learning programs, including activities and fun for all ages!

J&S: Will there be food?

H: Bagels, donuts, latkes, hot chocolate and much more!

Jonah Michel participates in JAWs, the Jewish Actors Workshop, Sicha: Israel Dialogue Group, and Manhigut (Leadership). Spike Michel is a 7th grader and loving his time in B’Yachad, the 6th and 7th grade learning program at TBE.
