TBE’s Community Voice

During the month of February, I started leading a support group for bereavement at TBE. I am grateful for the opportunity to facilitate such a group and hope to reach out to more congregants who could benefit from such a group.

I believe that support groups can be extremely helpful for most people. When people share a common problem, they can help each other to heal and grow.

When you face a problem in life, the first group of people to whom you turn to are often friends and family members. But oftentimes, these people may struggle to understand and relate. Therefore, it could be immensely helpful to share your experience with people who are coping with issues similar to yours. Together, group members can support and strengthen each other as they learn to problem-solve and cope with life’s challenges.

These are some helpful resources for bereavement groups in the community:

  • The Betty Ann Greenbaum Miller Center for Jewish Healing helps people feel a sense of connection when facing the challenges of illness, loss, or isolation by offering spiritual and communal support to foster hope, comfort, and wholeness guided by Jewish tradition.
  • Care Dimensions offers workshops for newly bereaved people as well as support groups for non-members. There are many resources in their website for grief and bereavement.
  • Northeastern Society For Group Psychotherapy (N.S.G.P) offers a large variety of therapeutic, support, and coaching groups for the community.

I invite you to contact me to learn more about support groups at TBE or in the community. I am happy to facilitate the connection and help you through the process.

And as always, please contact me for any other issue or concern.
