Since March I have been working on an intergenerational project called “Collecting Family Histories during the time of Covid 19”. The City of Tampa Florida did a 600 person Summit called Connect and Propel Tampa 2019. There is a post summit task force in Tampa that has issued a guide to collecting these stories.
The guide is based in Appreciative Inquiry. That is my field of study. The guide is also based in an Appreciative Inquiry book called Stan and the Four Fantastic powers that I co co wrote with Sarah Schiller, Max Schiller and a school psychologist from Maryland.
Connecting ourselves and our families of origin, choice, community and the world is moving forward with conversations in youth ministries and in other countries including Israel, China, Brazil and the U.K. There is even story collection that is beginning in the extended Schiller Family!
Telling our own stories and hearing others stories an important way to make meaning of this challenging, confusing, hopeful and amazing time.
