Through biblical texts, rabbinic discourse, historical documents, and modern midrash, this course will explore the riches of the Jewish discussion of gender and sexuality. We will learn to read hard texts with gender and sexuality as a lens, we’ll uncover fascinating perspectives from within Jewish tradition, and, above all, we’ll consider how Judaism’s dialogue around gender and sexuality can enrich our own identities as Jews and as human beings.
Dates: Thursday, December 22 & 29, January 5
