Boston Community Pediatrics is the first nonprofit pediatric private practice in Massachusetts, founded by TBE member Dr. Robyn Riseberg. Opened in 2020, BCP is working to bring income and racial equity to pediatric healthcare. For children, summer camp is a unique experience that addresses all of these parts of health. For children who come from families with low-income, there are myriad barriers to accessing summer camp experiences. Not only is camp expensive, but the application and registration processes can be difficult to navigate. Additionally, camp often requires specialized equipment that is not in a family’s budget, and within their social networks, not available to borrow. BCP knows the importance of this incredible experience for patients as it is one that they value for their own children and so has made it a priority to send as many kids to summer camp as possible.
