Born and raised on kibbutz Kfar Menahem in southern Israel, Ofer Erez became the first openly trans officer in the Israel Defense Forces. After being promoted to the rank of captain, he served as an advisor to the IDF on LGBTQ-related issues. Today, Ofer is living in Haifa and is experiencing the war as a civilian, but with deep ties to the IDF and to the kibbutzim of southern Israel, which were the hardest hit during the October 7 attacks. Join us on Zoom to hear his unique perspective on what’s happening today and the messages of hope and resilience coming from Israel that you may not hear in the news.
