Technology has been key to staying connected. I certainly didn’t know what Zoom was until it became a lifeline. I did use FaceTime and Skype with family. My grandchildren love FaceTime and texts. Their parents send photos and videos too.
I do my best to be respectful, kind, and thoughtful of anyone I come in contact with. It’s who I am. I believe everyone should be treated with dignity and respect. It’s important to me to be a “generous tipper” to those who kindly provide services I use like deliveries, household assistance, personal care etc. Due to my physical limitations I’m using more of such services than I ever did before.
As for the global community this year I am participating in a small way with TBE members in the writing of postcards to encourage voter turnout. I’ve made phone calls to legislators and written to them when I felt it was needed.
I make sure I contribute to organizations that serve the needs of our community. I used to go in person to make and serve meals, etc. but of course that’s not possible during this pandemic and my physical status.
The needs of our world, particularly our nation, feel enormous and overwhelming but if I find there is one small thing I can do I will do it. Certainly this year I will vote early!
