My story of the past several months has vacillated between isolation and connection, boredom and curiosity, despair and hopefulness. In a word, a time of contradictions. Each day has brought emotional challenges anew, and I awake never knowing how the day will go, regardless of “plans.” Frequently, the days are filled with swings, from one emotion to another, often in seeming contradiction. The times have encouraged me to learn persistence and patience, to let go when I need to, and to value family and friends more than ever. It is a strange gift.
